This new initiative incorporates beekeeping that allows students a firsthand look at nature and at harvesting and selling products like honey and beeswax lip balm. The idea is to get student enthusiasm high, have them attach concepts to data and get them to think through practical decisions that will make the world a better place. Part of that means switching the science teacher role from being the driver of the ship to being a lighthouse and letting students drive.
Girl Hurt - aimed towards bringing women together from all walks of life and inspire and empower them “to assume new and expanded roles in the workforce, (their) lives and communities. The overall goal of the event is for attendees to leave the conference with new ideas, inspiration, and connections to help keep the momentum going when they get back to their normal lives. Girl Hurt Empowerment Bruch” is an opportunity for your organization to receive exposure and to join other individuals, organizations, and coalitions in our community to educate our women about behavioral health issues, promote prevention efforts, and create and strengthen community partnerships. The theme of Girl Hurt reminds us that simple, daily acts of prevention, awareness, like helping a friend make positive choices or supporting a family member in need, can lead to healthier lives for each of us today, and stronger, happier communities, tomorrow.

Why Fund This New Initiative?
The Peebles initiative is a program comprised of community leader Gerald Riley and Law Enforcement Sherman Peebles. The initiative was designed to show schools and those who live in our communities how police and community leaders keep the communities they serve safe. Building off of this mutual goal, partnership between schools, community leaders and law enforcement can strengthen the efforts of programs, departments, and their communities. This is especially important given recent headlines surrounding tensions between police and communities of color.
Partnerships with law enforcement officers can help to establish positive relationships between students in the schools and law enforcement, as well as provide valuable mentorship to youth. Schools partnering with law enforcement allows officers and youth to interact on a regular basis and can help them develop meaningful relationships in a positive setting. Contributes volunteers and programming. Adding partners to your program can increase your volunteers, and provide new ideas for programming.
Exposes students to new career pathways. Youth often forget that law enforcement is a profession. Partnering with law enforcement can help show youth that being a police officer, and other law enforcement work, could be an obtainable option for their futures.
Strengthens the community at large. Starting with youth can be a great way to improve or build relationships between communities and local law enforcement. The relationships Officer Sherman and Community Leader Riley created were pieces that helped improve relationships between students and police officers in the schools and community.
Funding this initiative is pivotal as studies have proven that partnerships in the community have strengthen community relationships.
Total funding needed: $10,000

Our trained volunteers are professional stylists who show school aged boys and girls, who are in that awkward phase in life, some techniques to keep themselves well groomed.
They also teach the children what grooming styles are age appropriate, occasion appropriate and event appropriate. They assist the kids with everything from how to groom and dress for the first day of school, first job interviews and even college orientation.
This program is designed to assist those children who are unable to afford the luxuries of salon visits and professional hair care. We look to forward to making each child feel confident, to building character and showing them how to build their own self esteem one hairstyle at a time.

5 Keys to having a Successful Blended Family”. The five points used in the Blended Family program are:
1. Get Connected
2. Expectation
3. Adjustments
4. Compromise
5. LOVE!
The importance of incorporating each of these points into establishing a new, stable family unit is emphasized throughout the program. Overflo Outreach provides opportunities for the parents and children in a blended family situation to spend time together and to enjoy activities that they might not otherwise be able to participate in. There are annual events like “Camp Overflo” at Uchee Creek and “The Fishers of Men Retreat” that are designed specifically to provide an opportunity for positive and constructive family interaction. More than three hundred families in the metro Columbus area have been participants in the Blended Families program.
Overflo Outreach Ministries is a well-run professional organization that makes life easier for the communities we serve. We have developed some new initiatives and need some help funding. PLEASE SUPPORT.
